When I initial began fishing from a kayak, I took my digital point and shoot camera with me in my pocket, but the lens on most of these consumer cameras do not lend themselves to taking photographs of oneself at arms length. A wide angle lens is the answer in this scenario. An additional trouble is digital cameras have a really little view finder which makes it difficult to line up a shot, fight the fish and not roll the kayak while performing so! You may well as well pat your head and rub your stomach even though you are at it! The creative side of your brain may well suggest you take your $1,300 Canon EOS with a broad angle zoom lens and an automatic timer for remote shots. Issue is, it weighs about 2 to 3 pounds and oh, did I mention it cost $1,300! There are three simple issues you will encounter when attempting to photograph or video oneself whilst fishing in a kayak. Initial is keeping pricey and sensitive electronic equipment dry. Secondly, loosing gear entirely by accidentally dropping your costly camera overboard. Thirdly, mounting your camera or camcorder in such a fashion that it is both secure and in a location which will create quality photos and video.
